Letting go is so simple you could easily write it off. Its like this, you say to an alcoholic that he or she should take it one day at a time. Their response is usually “I know that”. But do they really act on that knowledge? I could say to you that you should simply let it go and your response would likely be “I know that”. Do you act on that knowledge? For example when things are getting too tough to handle, you could stop and simply ask yourself.
1. Could I just for the moment let this go - just as best I can?
2. Would I?
3. When?
This does not mean you have to drop your intention to do something or feel a certain way about something. What it means is you’ll have the opportunity to be more analytical about the problem as well as possibly seeing a solution where earlier you did not.
See for yourself if this works or not. Don’t take my word for it. For example, right now think of something that’s bothering you. Then use the 3 questions above to dissolve the emotions. But again take it for checking. When you’ve done a complete round of the questions, look inside to see how it is now. Is it less of a concern or more of a concern? Of course if there’s more left then you do the questions a few more times until your checking or looking inside proves that it has indeed left or evaporated.
Sounds simple enough right? It is!
Always check it. Could I let this go? Would I? When? “Look inside to see how it is”.
Much Love,
Brendan
